YEREVAN, April 30. /ARKA/. Armenia will get access to data obtained by the Russian orbital satellites, the Russian magazine Military Observer reported. It said this opportunity is provided for by a cooperation agreement in the field of remote sensing technologies for the Earth's surface from space, signed between the Russian Space Systems holding (a Roskosmos division ) and the Armenian company Geokosmos. Geokosmos is the leading Armenian operator of space activity results The contract is a sublicensed one, due to it, the Armenian company will be able to use the information in its products and services, as well as distribute it. Under the agreement, the parties will modernize the data receiving and processing station located in Armenia. In addition to the orbital remote sensing group, the Armenian side will receive data from the Aist-2D spacecraft. Moscow and Yerevan are also mulling creation of a joint structure capable of building instruments for Earth remote sensing satellites, as well as software and data processing services for space imagery. Geokosmos closely cooperates with the defense structures of Armenia. In 2017, it was said to have entered into a contract with the Ministry of Defense, which was interested in conducting operational intelligence through satellite imagery. As part of work on obtaining such information and preparing for the launch of an Armenian satellite, the government allocated 300 million drams ($625,000) "to bring the software and hardware complex of the Geokosmos receiving station into working condition and modernization.’. The agreement between the companies was reached during the exhibition ArmHiTec, held in Yerevan at the end of March this year. --0--
