YEREVAN, April 20. /ARKA/. A mobile mapping tool for 3D scanning of the city and the creation of its digital twin will be piloted in Yerevan. This was announced at a working meeting at the Mayor's Office on Monday.
As noted during the meeting, the scanning will be conducted in a unified geographic information system (GIS) using vehicle-mounted LiDAR devices and 360-degree panoramic imaging systems.
The obtained data is expected to form the basis for a digital model of the capital and can subsequently be used for analytics and the implementation of artificial intelligence-based solutions.
LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is a remote sensing technology that uses laser pulses to measure distances to objects and create precise 3D models of them.
