Ucom creates own data center
YEREVAN, April 9. /ARKA/. Ucom telecom company said it has established its own Data Center, inviting Armenian websites to place their servers there.
Speaking at a news conference at Novosti international press center, Ucom chief manager Hayk Yesayan said some 76% of Armenian websites’ hosting is outside the country and when there are faults with the fiber optical network Armenia gets isolated from the rest of the world.
He said creation of Data Center and ensuring its uninterrupted operation due to two alternative communications routes allow a guaranteed access to Armenian Internet resources. To ensure safe and diversified operation Data Center cooperates with two wholesale Internet providers GNC-Alfa and FiberNet Communications, which operate the Northern Segment of county’s wide fiber-optic network through Georgia and the Southern Segment of the Network between Yerevan and Iran-Armenia border.
Hayk Yesayan said several tens of local companies have already joined Data Center.
More than half of Armenian Internet resources are registered in am domain. According to the latest data, there are 12,250 websites in this domain. Ucom LLC, founded in 2007, offers a variety of traditional and innovative high quality services in the Armenian telecommunication market. -0-
