At a meeting on Friday, the Armenian government decided to allocate approximately 20.4 million drams for the creation and launch of a unified sports management information system.
YEREVAN, September 11. /ARKA/. At a meeting on Friday, the Armenian government decided to allocate approximately 20.4 million drams for the creation and launch of a unified sports management information system.
According to the rationale for the decision, the new system will enable the creation of a single, centralized database for sports.
The project is in line with Armenia's Physical Culture and Sports Development Strategy for 2024–2030, which calls for the creation of a database management system and the digitalization of information collection and management processes in sports.
Specifically, it will contain information on participants and medalists of the Olympic Games, World, and European Championships, and will enable the prompt collection, processing, and analysis of athlete performance data.
The decision notes that currently, the collection and storage of sports information is often carried out by various organizations without a unified information system, resulting in data that is incomplete, fragmented, or untimely. Furthermore, the use of paperwork and redundant administrative procedures reduces management efficiency.
The implementation of the system is expected to improve the efficiency and transparency of sports management, expand data monitoring and analysis capabilities, simplify administrative procedures, and enable more informed decision-making.
The project will begin in 2026 and is scheduled to last four months, with the remaining work to be completed in 2027. ($1 = 363.28 drams).
