Armenia intends to launch at least three satellites and create a distributed network of ground stations, announced Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
YEREVAN, September 10. /ARKA/. Armenia intends to launch at least three satellites and create a distributed network of ground stations, announced Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
"Two for Earth observation and one for telecommunications. At the same time, we will develop our own ground infrastructure and internal capabilities for satellite control, data reception, processing, and analysis," Pashinyan said, speaking at the panel discussion "Vision for the Future of Space Infrastructure" at the International Space Summit in Paris.
According to him, the plan is to create a distributed network of ground stations that will be able to meet not only Armenia's national needs but also support international space missions and meet the growing demand for satellite data and services.
"In the future, Armenia intends to more actively participate in international space programs, providing Armenian engineers and companies with the opportunity to contribute to the design, development, and production of complex systems and equipment for space exploration," Pashinyan said.
The Prime Minister noted that Armenia has entered a new stage in the development of its national space industry.
He recalled that in 2022, the country launched its first satellite, ARMSAT-1, developed using European technology and launched into orbit by SpaceX.
"Just one year later, we reached another important milestone—HAYASAT-1, the first Armenian satellite fully assembled and tested by Armenian specialists. The Armenian government's 2026-2031 program defines the development of national space capabilities as a separate strategic goal," Pashinyan emphasized.
The Prime Minister also stated that Armenia is taking into account the growing interconnectedness of the space industry and artificial intelligence.
In this context, he said, a broader national concept of an "AI Factory Park" is being developed, designed to create an ecosystem of advanced computing power and AI technologies to support research, innovation, and technological development in various fields.
