YEREVAN, July 14. /ARКА/. First Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia Gevorg Mantashyan discussed cooperation in digitalization, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity with a delegation from the European Union.

The meeting with the delegation, led by Stefano Tomati, Executive Director of the Civilian Operations Headquarters of the European External Action Service (EEAS), took place on July 13, the ministry's press service reported.

Mantashyan congratulated the European delegation on the official launch of the EU Partnership Mission to Armenia (EUPM Armenia) within the framework of the Common Security and Defense Policy. He noted the importance of cooperation between Armenia and the European Union, as well as the mission's activities aimed at strengthening the country's institutional capacity.

The EU representatives presented the mission's priorities and main areas of work: it intends to provide strategic and operational advisory support to Armenian government agencies, conduct expert assessments and training programs, and implement technical assistance projects.

The parties discussed opportunities for exchanging experiences with EU member states, professional cooperation, and Armenia's participation in European connectivity initiatives.

Mantashyan presented the Armenian government's policies for shaping a digital society and economy, developing reliable information systems, strengthening cybersecurity, and improving sectoral policies.

Meeting participants also discussed initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence, legislative reforms, the potential for applying AI in public administration, and its potential for developing national cybersecurity capabilities.

The parties confirmed their readiness to continue cooperation in digital development and cybersecurity, strengthening institutional capacity, and implementing joint initiatives.

The EU delegation also included Cosmin George Dinescu, Head of the European Union Partnership Mission to Armenia (EUPM Armenia); Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Vasilis Maragos, Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia; and representatives of the European External Action Service and the EU Mission.
