Orange Armenia doubles monthly sales two years after inception in Armenia

YEREVAN, November 7. / ARKA /. Speaking at a news conference last Saturday convened to mark the second anniversary of launch of Orange services in Armenia, Orange Armenia CEO, Bruno Duthoit, said, ‘Two years have passed since we said our first «hello» to Armenia.

Two years may seem a short period, but they were sufficient for Orange to completely transform Internet in Armenia and bring new trends to voice market. Two years were sufficient for us to become the reliable partner of our customers and an important actor in the economic and social life of the country. After two years we can state today that Orange is an established company that everyone recognizes for its own way of being and that has its very important contribution in the country.’

He said today Orange Armenia has 600,000 active customers, including 70,000 customers of mobile broadband internet.

The 3G+ mobile network of the company built with the most modern technologies, today covers more than 95% of the population and is available even in remote villages. Orange Armenia offers a wide portfolio of services and has an offer for the mass market as well as for the business segment. He said Orange Armenia made a revolution in the internet market by making mobile broadband internet accessible to wide public geographically as well as from the affordability point of view, as well as brought a disruption in the voice market by offering phones and smartphones for a considerably low price and even for free, with one or two year commitment.

He said Orange Armenia has transformed the market of smartphones, and transformed smartphones from just an expensive device into a necessary tool. Today Orange offers the largest portfolio of phones and smartphones in the country, thanks to the direct cooperation with world leading brands.

‘Today 700 people are directly or indirectly working to deliver Orange in Armenia, they are united by Orange values and the wish to change customers’ daily life,’ he said.

“Orange became the initiator of changes that touch customers in their everyday activities: free WiFi internet in public transport, busstops and Universities, two cinema tickets for the price of one, mobile and personal WiFi and etc.
Thanks to its numerous projects and sponsorship programs the company stimulated and rewarded young Armenian talents: Innovation Prize, OPEN GAME contest of electronic games developed in Armenia, ArmNet, Orange Book Prize, National Film Awards and etc,’ he said.

Around its second anniversary Orange presented disruptive and innovative offers. Only a few days ago new tariff plans – Dolphin, Panther and Butterfly – the new wave of European trends in Armenia, were introduced to the market. During coming days Orange will present new offers for internet and multimedia.
Orange Armenia is a 100% subsidiary of France Telecom (trading as Orange) . It launched its commercial services in Armenia on November 5, 2009 as the third mobile operator. ($1 - 379.35 AMD).
