25 TV companies in Armenia start digital broadcasting on January 1
YEREVAN, December 7. /ARKA/. Koryun Arakelyan, a member of Armenia's State Television and Radio Committee, speaking Monday in the National Assembly, said 25 TV companies in the country will move to digital broadcasting on January 1.
In his words, all the TV companies operating in the country have received digital broadcasting licenses.
«All the companies have got licenses and none of them is deprived of the opportunity of digital broadcasting,» he said.
Arakelyan said that despite considerable expenses needed for transition to digital broadcasting, this is very important to do it to improve broadcasting quality.
He stressed that the government will provide decoders and the opportunity of receiving free packages of channels to socially unsecured people category.
It was initially planned to complete transition to digital broadcasting in July 2015, but the deadline was postponed to the beginning of 2016. ---0---
