Virtually all young Armenians have access to Internet via mobile phones

Approximately 99.5% of young Armenians have access to Internet via their mobile phones, a deputy minister of sports and youth affairs, Arsen Karamyan, said today presenting the results of a survey conducted by the ministry.
YEREVAN, December 19. /ARKA/. Approximately 99.5% of young Armenians have access to Internet via their mobile phones, a deputy minister of sports and youth affairs, Arsen Karamyan, said today presenting the results of a survey conducted by the ministry. The survey was conducted jointly with UNDP as part of work to prepare the "National Report on Youth," which is used by the government to develop a strategy for youth policy in 2012-2017 years.
The survey was conducted over the last 3-4 months embracing 1,200 young people aged 18-30 years in Yerevan, Armenian villages and other cities. Thus, according to the survey, 99.6% of respondents have mobile phones. Some 54.6% have personal computers, and 47.1% of them are connected to Internet. Some 7.8% of the respondents said they have more than one PC."These are very good indicators. If we compare them with those in other CIS countries, we shall see that Armenia is at the forefront. Today our society has turned into an information society,"- said Karamyan.The study will be completed before the end of February 2012. According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, 720,000 of Armenian citizens are aged 18 -30. -0-
