Minister: Armenia to use international capacity and overcome world financial crisis

YEREVAN, November 3. / ARKA /. Armenia seeks to use international capability and reach out of the global crisis stronger," Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan said on Friday at a press conference marking the third Global Armenian Technology Congress ArmTech, which will be held on November 5-8.

Under the agreement, ArmTech is to be alternately held in the Silicon Valley, located in California, and Armenia.

"We want to use the international capability and reach out of the global crisis stronger cooperation with all forces that can help to shift the economy of Armenia on a technological level, which will make our country and economy more competitive,” Yeritsyan said.

According to him, the Congress attempts to connect Armenia with the world centre of high technology by its participation.

The Minister noted that this event is held for the second time in Silicon Valley and it has undergone a qualitative growth both in terms of the list of participants, their responsibilities, and the terms of the issues discussed.

According to Yeritsyan, the voice of the government will be more resonant, aimed at ensuring that we are able to bring together potentials of Armenia and the Armenian Diaspora.

The Minister noted that the Congress should evolve over time and become a global forum in which the Armenian and international topics in the field of high technologies will be discussed.

Yeritsyan said that in the third congress ArmTech members will discuss global issues and indicate those spheres of Armenia, in which they would be interested to invest in.
"Within three days Armenia will demonstrate the resource, which was acquired during the period of ArmTech forums, and that will be the proof of efficiency of its implementation," Yeritsyan said.

The Minister also said that Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan will also participate in Armtech, where he will have a series of meetings and visits related to national competitiveness of Armenia and the study areas of high technology.

He said that the Prime will also discuss concrete proposals to the business community.

The third ArmTech Global Congress (Armenian Technology Congress) will be held on November 5-8, 2009 in San Jose (California, USA).

The main purpose of the congress is establishing business contacts between high-tech communities of Armenia and the Diaspora, the implementation of joint programs, as well as attracting foreign investment in information and high technologies in Armenia.

Under the agreement, ArmTech will be held alternately in Silicon Valley in California and Armenia.

This year, the congress is being held under the slogan “Learn from the past to identify future.”

The second ArmTech global congress was held in Armenia on October 4-5 2008. About 250 IT companies from the USA, Russia, France and other European countries, as well as Central Asia, South America and Eastern Europe participated in the congress.

The first ArmTech was held in San-Francisco on July 4-7 2007 with over 350 participants from many countries. Armenia was represented by 60 businessmen ad 11 business and educational organizations involved in Armenian IT cluster.–0--
