Russian step logic wins tender to build a national backbone transport network in Armenia
YEREVAN, June 26. /ARKA/. Step Logic - South (Yerevan), Russian system integrator, has won the tender to build a national backbone transport network for GNC-Alfa service provider, Step Logic Marketing Director Inna Ozerova said on Thursday.
The project implies implementation of the full range of operations, including backbone network based on
SDH, Internet exchange and Ethernet Network, for GNC-Alfa, Armenian operator.
Almost all leading manufacturers of telecommunication equipment - Ericsson, ECI, Alcatel and major Russian system integrators participated in the bidding.

A number of international awards and highly qualified engineers allows Step Logic successfully implement solutions based on Cisco equipment on the developing telecommunication market of Armenia”, the press release says.
The aim of the project is to create and to put into operation fiber-optic communication lines along the main pipeline. The first phase of construction includes southern direction - Yerevan-Meghri. As a result, backbone network will provide connection with the telecommunication network of Iran and through it connection with other global networks. The second phase involves backbone network deployment in the north of country up to the Georgian border. This will enable backbone network connection with Georgian telecommunication systems. Thus, new cable network will be integrated in the global worldwide networks. Next phase will involve deployment of branch networks to the major cities and major communities located near the national backbone transport network.
“The fourth stage enables development of subscribers’ network with optical lines deployment to the users’ premises”, the press release says.
GNC-Alfa will provide the basic groups of services based on backbone network’s capabilities.
Dark fiber optic lines to local and foreign telecommunication operators under conditions of IRU (Indefeasible Right of Use) and DDP (Droit de Passage) are among these services.
The basic group includes also IP transit services (wholesale Internet services) to Armenian Internet service providers, facilities of transit connection to foreign telecommunication operators, backbone connection services to local telecom operators (channels leasing), VPN services to corporate clients, Internet services to end users based on FTTB (Fiber to the building), with further inclusion in the package of telephony services (IP-telephony) and content services (IP-TV, WEB-TV, etc).
On March 27, Step Logic opened its regional office - Step Logic – South – in Armenia.
