YEREVAN, June 23. /ARKA/. Yerevan intends to fully transition its public transport to electric traction, announced Tigran Avinyan, the mayor of the Armenian capital.
"Our future strategy is to fully transition to electric public transport," Avinyan said at a meeting of the capital's Council of Elders.
According to the mayor, the purchase of electric buses is planned for this purpose; this issue is currently being discussed by the government's Investment Committee.
"There are two analyses and two proposals in this regard: the purchase of 250 new 18-meter electric buses, and a new study on replacing 18-meter electric buses with 12-meter ones. We will summarize all this data in due course," Avinyan said.
