YEREVAN, April 6. /ARKA/. Viva-MTS telecommunications company has announced today the launch of its 5G network in Armenia's capital Yerevan. This is the first new generation network in Armenia, the telecom said in a press release. According to it, the launch of 5G network fully corresponds to the long-term plans of Viva-MTS.

The company offers its clients ever increasing opportunities, as well as contributes to the development of the national economy. The company will develop 5G network in Armenia step by step.

5G is the most innovative mobile communication technology in the world, offering enhanced functions for users of smartphones and mobile devices. The network based on this technology will be the key infrastructure for the growth of the Armenian economy.

Like everywhere else in the world, 5G allows the development of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, seamlessly connecting millions of devices and allowing data to be shared on a single network.

5G will drive the development of a digital future and will play a key role in the development of the digital economy in such areas as medicine/public health, transportation, logistics, artificial intelligence (AI), machine-to-machine/M2M applications, more efficient use of applications, cloud technology, environmental protection, urban planning and development, smart agriculture and many other areas.

The introduction of 5G technology will contribute to the further development of the ICT sector in Armenia.

The 5G network is currently available in the center of Yerevan with the prospect of expansion in the near future. 5G is a key infrastructure from the point of view of increasing the rating of the country on the world map and attraction of investments.

Through its activity Viva-MTS confirms its leading role in the area of innovations in telecommunication sector in Armenia. In particular, Viva-MTS was the first in Armenia to launch 3G/UMTS/HSPA network in 2009. In December 2010, the company was again the first in Armenia to launch the 4G/LTE network, thanks to which Armenia appeared in the top ten countries worldwide, using this network. The launch of the 5G network also fits into the logic of the company's innovation strategy.

"With the launch of the 5G network available for subscribers in Armenia, Viva-MTS once again confirms its technological leadership in the country. Users of smartphones compatible with the network will be able to feel all the advantages of the new technology, especially when downloading big content, watching and streaming video, playing cloud games or simply sharing a fast Wi-Fi network", - said  Viva-MTS General Manager Armen Avetisyan.

He noted that innovations are not an end in themselves for Viva-MTS. "We just do what we have to do. 5G is a manifestation of our attitude towards subscribers, as our subscribers deserve better services and solutions. That said, 5G, like our other achievements and accomplishments, is the result of team spirit and hard work, for which I thank our employees," Avetisyan emphasized.

Apple Inc. has implemented appropriate settings to make smartphones compatible with 5G technology so that users will be able to use this network from Viva-MTS. To do this, the Apple phone must initially be compatible with 5G technology.

The 5G network is available for Apple smartphones that have updated to iOS 16.4. Negotiations with other key vendors are ongoing. --0--
