YEREVAN, May 16. /ARKA/. COAF SMART Center in Lori region became the epicenter of innovation and technology on May 15, hosting this year's Silicon Mountains Regional Forum that shifted discussions around technology and innovation to the regions, Ucom's press service reported.
Ucom acted as the forum's technology partner, and the company's CEO Ralph Yirikian participated in a panel discussion on “Cybersecurity and Data Protection,” sharing his experience and views on modern cybersecurity standards.
Two other panel discussions focused on Artificial Intelligence and Automation and Smart Digital Infrastructures. One of the key speakers at the forum was Dr. Yoshiaki Hagiwara, a Japanese engineer and the recipient of the Armenian State Award for Global Contribution to High Technology.
"AI today has already become an essential tool for everyone, helping to organize daily work and life more efficiently. And cybersecurity has long been an integral part of our lives. At Ucom, we believe that discussions around these modern technologies should be accessible to everyone in Armenia. I am excited to share my experiences and discuss cybersecurity at Silicon Mountains in Lori. I hope our presentations will inspire many and lay the groundwork for new useful collaborations and projects," said Ralph Yirikian, CEO of Ucom.
"Firstly, regional development is indeed a priority area for our union. As of 2019, we have started working with regional communities in Shirak, Lori, Gegharkunik and Syunik. Secondly, we aim to strengthen regional companies by providing them with new opportunities and helping them to go international. Third, we intend to introduce advanced educational STEM programs developed together with our members in the regions, such as the Artificial Intelligence school program, Telecommunications and Internet of Things (IoT) program and other projects. Fourthly, we want to share experience and knowledge, involving the heads of leading companies, international organizations and government representatives. And finally, we want to bring the business culture of international companies to the regions and stimulate regional investments," said Eduard Musaelyan, Executive Director of the Union of Employers of Information and Communication Technologies.
The forum also included the gaming “Cyber Wars”. During this unique practical seminar, two experienced teams of cybersecurity specialists alternately acted as attackers and defenders.
Attendees learned about modern DDoS attack methods and tools, effective response and defense strategies, and the latest cybersecurity trends.
