Rostelecom in Armenia conducts second youth chess tournament in Vanadzor

Rostelecom in Armenia conducted the second chess tournament for the children of specialized chess school in the second largest Armenian city of Vanadzor. The tournament involved 43 teenage boys and girls who had passed the qualifying round.

YEREVAN, October 20. / ARKA /. Rostelecom in Armenia conducted the second chess tournament for the children of specialized chess school in the second largest Armenian city of Vanadzor. The tournament involved 43 teenage boys and girls who had passed the qualifying round.

The winner among the boys was the 12-year-old Sargis Sargsyan; the 13-year-old Christine Sargsyan was the winner among girls. A special prize was awarded to the 10-year-old Hasmik Kochinyan by the decision of the chess school and Rostelecom. Hasmik Kochinyan came in fifth at the European Championship.

The prizes to the wieners were handed by Sedrak Ghuschyan, the commercial director of Rostelecom in Armenia

The official award ceremony was followed by a concert of Armenian pop singers for the hundreds of local residents, organized by Rostelecom. The event ended with the screening of a movie with the help of Rostelecom Smart TV.

The specialized chess school in Vanadzor was built in 2009. Today, it has more than 350 students. Since 2014, the school has been provided with free high-speed internet by Rostelecom. The school takes part in local and international online chess tournaments.
