Pashinyan: AI is becoming part of everyday life in Armenia
YEREVAN, August 20. /ARKA/. Artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming a part of everyday life in Armenia, and this sector is poised for rapid development, according to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
"We need to reevaluate our views on energy consumption and production to see how they align with the new landscape that is forming. Supercomputer centers use a significant amount of electricity, and we still do not fully grasp the extent of this consumption. We may witness a substantial rise in electricity usage," Pashinyan remarked during a government meeting on Thursday.
He emphasized the importance of establishing suitable institutions to engage with AI.
"Our goal is to create a dedicated office for artificial intelligence matters within the Ministry (of High-Tech Industry - ed.). The encouraging news is that AI infrastructure is no longer merely a subject for headlines," Pashinyan stated.
He pointed out that notable advancements have been made over the past year.
"Three supercomputer centers are currently operational in the country, with two functioning as 'AI factories.' The plans and initiatives endorsed by investors, the government, and the Ministry urge us to rethink the speed and scale of our efforts in this domain," Pashinyan added.-0-
