Internet under police control: Armenia to establish cyber lab to combat crime
YEREVAN, August 18. /ARKA/. A cyber lab will soon be established in Armenia, announced Acting Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Mkrtchyan.
"This will be the infrastructure that will significantly increase the effectiveness of the fight against internet crimes and digital crimes in general," Mkrtchyan noted at a press conference on Tuesday.
He added that this is also very important from the perspective of international police cooperation.
"We understand that in the digital and internet environment, crimes are not always committed or planned directly in Armenia. A crime can be planned in one country and committed in another," he said.
He added that the Criminal Police must develop its capabilities in the digital sphere, given that many types of crimes are increasingly moving online.
"The Internet should also be viewed as an environment in which police must patrol, prevent, and solve crimes," Mkrtchyan emphasized. -0-
