Armenia and the EU discuss cooperation in space and Earth observation technologies

YEREVAN, June 17. /ARKA/. Prospects for expanding cooperation between Armenia and the EU in the defense industry and space technologies were discussed at a meeting between RA Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan and European Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius.

The meeting took place as part of the Eurosatory 2026 international defense technology exhibition. Armenia's Ambassador to France, Arman Khachatryan, also participated.

The parties discussed opportunities to deepen cooperation in high-tech sectors of strategic importance to Armenia and the EU. Specifically, they discussed the development of defense innovations, space security, the application of Earth remote sensing technologies, and expanding cooperation with the European Commission's Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space (DG DEFIS).

Hayrapetyan presented to Kubilius the Armenian government's priorities in high technology, including modernizing the defense technology sector, developing space capabilities, and creating a competitive innovation ecosystem.

The two sides emphasized the importance of further strengthening partnerships in strategic technological areas and expressed their willingness to continue active dialogue on projects of mutual interest.
