YEREVAN, October 6. /ARKA/. Mesrop Mesropyan, Head of Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC), met on Tuesday with representatives from the "Firebird AI" data center and the "Electric Power System Operator" CJSC to discuss connecting the artificial intelligence data center to the country's power grid.

Discussions also covered the provision of necessary power capacity and the potential impact of the data center's operations on the energy system.

Meeting participants presented their observations and proposals and outlined areas for future discussion and cooperation.

About the AI Data Center Project

In June 2025, the Government of Armenia, NVIDIA, Firebird, and Team Group announced the launch of a project to establish a supercomputing and data center based on artificial intelligence solutions.

Firebird owns the data center, which features an infrastructure capacity exceeding 100 MW; Dell is a project partner, and NVIDIA is supplying high-performance Blackwell GPUs.

It was previously reported that the investment volume for the Firebird AI center stands at $500 million for the first phase. Upon completion of the second phase, total investment could reach approximately $5 billion, with the number of additional NVIDIA Blackwell-generation GPUs put into operation totaling around 42,000.

The new AI center will facilitate the development of artificial intelligence technologies, biosciences, robotics, and space exploration. The project is being implemented with the support of the Armenian and US governments.
