Armenian Signal Messenger Users Targeted by Hackers

YEREVAN, March 21. /ARKA/. Signal Messenger has been attacked by hackers, reported Armenian information security expert Samvel Martirosyan.
"Based on the targets, it can be assumed that a state entity is behind the attack, with malicious intent. There are not many countries like this, so it's somewhat possible to identify them. Users receive messages from Signal, allegedly from their support team. They are alarmed by claims that attackers are attempting to hack their account. In some cases, it's clear that the login originated from Baku, which is meant to scare users into contacting support, after which an attempt is made to seize control of the account," Martirosyan warned on Facebook.
In such cases, he advises not to panic, not to respond to these messages, and to enable two-factor authentication - Settings >> Account >> Registration Lock.
"Then, a digital PIN code should be entered, which should never be shared with anyone and must not be forgotten," the expert recommends.
