Armenian Prosecutor General's Office warns of new fraudulent schemes

YEREVAN, May 21. /ARKA/. The Armenian Prosecutor General's Office warns of the emergence of new fraudulent schemes, which target users of social networks and messengers.

“Citizens receive calls via phone applications ‘WhatsApp’, ‘Facebook’, ‘Telegram’, etc. or from different phone numbers, appearing to be from employees of telecom operators and offer to log into various programs in order to update 5G-internet settings. After logging in, the criminals gain access to the citizens' cell phone data (e-wallets, banking information, etc.) and steal money or apply for loans,” the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office reports.

The agency notes that in order not to become a victim of crime, citizens should refrain from any action when receiving such calls and contact the operator servicing the cell phone number.-0-
