Firebird plans to deploy 250 MW of artificial intelligence infrastructure based on NVIDIA technologies in Armenia and Kazakhstan over the next 12 months, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang announced in a video message to mark the launch of the Firebird AI data center in the Armenian city of Hrazdan.
YEREVAN, August 8. /ARKA/. Firebird plans to deploy 250 MW of artificial intelligence infrastructure based on NVIDIA technologies in Armenia and Kazakhstan over the next 12 months, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang announced in a video message to mark the launch of the Firebird AI data center in the Armenian city of Hrazdan.
"Today, Armenia and Kazakhstan are creating infrastructure that will enable the development of their own artificial intelligence at home," Huang said.
According to him, the infrastructure being created will be available to researchers, startups, industrial companies, and government agencies in the two countries, providing local developers with computing power to create and implement AI-based solutions.
Huang noted that the development of AI is accompanied by growing global demand for computing resources. According to him, artificial intelligence infrastructure is becoming an independent element of digital infrastructure, alongside cloud services and data centers.
The head of NVIDIA also expressed the opinion that having its own computing power is becoming strategically important for countries and companies, as it allows for the development and operation of AI systems within their own countries. He added that the new capacity could be used by both local developers and startups, as well as international companies, to create and operate AI systems.
Project in Armenia
The Firebird project, to create a large-scale data center for artificial intelligence in Hrazdan, is being implemented with the participation of NVIDIA and the support of the Armenian and US governments.
In July 2025, it was reported that the initial investment in the project was estimated at approximately $500 million. The plan was to deploy thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and build an infrastructure with a capacity of over 100 MW.
In June 2026, the first large shipment of 1,792 NVIDIA Blackwell processors, out of the 6,144 GPUs planned for the first phase of the project, arrived in Armenia. The first phase of the AI data center is being built in Hrazdan.
According to current information from Firebird, the first phase of the Armenian AI center includes 6,144 NVIDIA B200 processors and a capacity of 15 MW. The next phase of expansion in Armenia is designed for 125 MW and 75,000 next-generation GPUs, with total investment potentially reaching approximately $5 billion.
Kazakhstan Outline
In parallel, Firebird is developing a major AI infrastructure project in Kazakhstan.
In June 2026, the government of Kazakhstan announced the signing of a $10 billion package of agreements with Firebird in the field of artificial intelligence, with technological cooperation from NVIDIA.
The Kazakh side announced plans to create a computing cluster with approximately 100,000 modern GPUs, including NVIDIA GB300 and Vera Rubin solutions.
Thus, Firebird's projects in Armenia and Kazakhstan form two areas of development for the company's AI computing infrastructure in the region. The Armenian project is Firebird's first AI center and has already entered the hardware deployment phase.
