New generation biometric equipment and scanners will be used during screening at Armenian airports

YEREVAN, February 6. /ARKA/. Passenger screening at Armenian airports will be conducted using biometric equipment, and new-generation scanners will be employed to check baggage. This decision was made at a government meeting on Thursday, in line with the new security protocol of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The current Rapiscan MVXR 5000 scanners allow for 70% cargo screening, while the remaining 30% is carried out by Airport Security Service employees through visual inspection.
New-generation Rapiscan RTT110 scanners will be purchased, which will increase the efficiency of initial screening from 70% to 98%.
The need to strengthen security measures arose in response to new global civil aviation standards, as well as the rise in passenger traffic at Armenian airports in 2022-2023.
