YEREVAN, May 11. /ARKA/. In partnership with Boomerang Software Armenian Unibank will offer the first Mobile Commerce service in Armenia. The new service allows to commerce via mobile phone.
"Over the last decade mobile phones have been taking an increasingly important role in humans’ life and have long ceased to be simply a means of communication," Unibank deputy chairman, Mesrop Hakobyan, said today when speaking at a seminar for bankers and entrepreneurs.
He said the new service, which can be activated by using a special application for smart phoned, allows users to manage their bank accounts, carry out various financial transactions, as well as pay for goods and services.
He said in the first stage the service will be free, and some time later a symbolic fee of about 100 drams will be set. He said that this year the service will be accessible to 30-40 thousand people.
The president of Gallery System software developer, Richard Bezjian, said the service is not only simple and accessible, but also more secure than those offered by most mobile systems, since it has a reliable protection system, which is very difficult to crack. He said, the service will be available later also to corporations, small and medium-sized businesses, government organizations, etc.
Unibank was founded in October 2001 with an authorized capital of $5 million. In 2003 it joined local ArCa payment and settlement system and a year later joined the Visa International system. -0-
