Fab Lab Armenia Launches in Gyumri to Foster Digital Creativity and Innovation

YEREVAN, April 22./ARKA/. The new international digital production laboratory, FabLab Armenia Gyumri, has officially opened at the Gyumri branch of the State Academy of Arts of Armenia.
First Deputy Minister of High Technology Industry Gevorg Mantashyan remarked that the establishment of FabLab Armenia Gyumri is the culmination of extensive efforts and dreams, made possible through European Union funding and the dedicated work of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU).
He highlighted that the lab introduces cutting-edge tools and technological solutions, creating a nurturing environment for developing creative talents and presenting them in contemporary ways.
Moreover, Mantashyan pointed out that the creative industry is a key priority of Armenia's state policy. With this new infrastructure, residents of Gyumri now have the opportunity to harness these resources for crafting and showcasing innovative solutions.
As part of his visit, the Deputy Minister also met with participants of the “Catapult” creative accelerator program in Gyumri. This initiative, backed by EU funding and implemented by AGBU, aims to boost Armenia's creative economy by enhancing the entrepreneurial skills and competitiveness of industry professionals while providing vital support to individuals, organizations, and infrastructures through information, training, and technological/material investments.-0-
Fab Lab Armenia is an integral part of a vibrant global network that includes educators, artists, engineers, scientists, software developers, students, professionals, and curious individuals.
On July 12, 2022, a significant Memorandum of Understanding was established among the Ministries of Hi-Tech Industry, Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Economy of Armenia, the EU Delegation to Armenia, and the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU). This collaboration is focused on the “Catapult” creative gas pedal program, which aims to advance the creative industry and cultural landscape of Armenia.
The initiative is designed to launch educational programs, engage international experts, leverage digital production techniques—particularly in the realm of creative industries—and foster the application of these practices throughout Armenia.-0-
