Armenian Ucom broadband access provider launches alternative fixed line telephony services
YEREVAN, November 2, /ARKA/. Armenian broadband access provider Ucom announced today the launch of fixed line telephony services in the country. In an interview with ARKA news agency the company’s chief executive manager, Hayk Yesayan, said new customs can get connected to the fixed telephony line via their home telephones. He said Ucom will offer new telephone sets enabling video calls, including oversees calls.
‘The monthly subscription fee is about 600 Drams and we have no per-minute pricing, but we are ready to offer our customers a package of privileged services,’ he said.
‘The company will, particularly, offer a 15,000 Dram monthly package including 2 megabit Internet access, 76 TV channels and fixed telephony, which separately cost 21,000 Drams,’ Hayk Yesayan said.
Armenia’s largest provider of fixed telephony is ArmenTel company. The country’s Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) has granted alternative fixed telephony licenses to several operators, but so far only one-
CrossNet- has launched commercial services.
Ucom was founded in 2007 to deliver a range of traditional and innovative high quality services in the Armenian telecommunications market. Having partnered with equipment vendor Ericsson, it has built a fibre-optic network based on Gigabit Passive Optical Network (G-PON) technology and today offers telecoms services through its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network and IP TV in Yerevan.
