Final stage of robot-minesweeper contest reveals no winner

YEREVAN, December 19. /ARKA/. The final stage of Robot-Minesweeper contest as part of Armenia’s open robotics championship held on Saturday at Yerevan's Tumo Center for Creative Technology, did not reveal a winner, Mariam Nahapetyan fr om Armrobotics, an organizer of the contest told ARKA.

The contest participants designed and created robots that explore the earthen embankment, find buried mines, indicate their location and create an electronic map. The dimensions of robots were limited to 40+ 40cm and to 10 kg in weight.

The contest involved five teams - Arnet, Mim, Revotek, Maymhagr and Vozni. There was no age lim it for participants. The teams consisted mainly of students, graduates and professionals. The prizes for winners were e 400 thousand drams, 300 thousand drams and 200 thousand drams for first, second and third places respectively.

Mariam Nahapetyan said four teams were given the consolation prizes of 100,000 drams and Vozni was given 200,000 drams in the nomination Best Engineering Solution.

The contest was organized by UITE with the assistance of general sponsor VivaCell-MTS. The technical support was provided by Artin Varoujan company. Other sponsors were the ministry of defence, Tumo Center for Creative Technology, the State Engineering University of Armenia, and the Innovation Center Microsoft. The first contest was held in 2008. -0-
