YEREVAN, September 12. / ARKA /. Telcell, a private company operating a chain of electronic payment terminals, said today it has over 1000 payment points across the country.

The first terminal was installed six years ago.   It was a brand new business in Armenia, helping create a market for electronic payments, TelCell director, Aram Azatian, was quoted as saying in a press release.

On 4 August 2007 TelCell made the first transaction to pay for a VivaCell-MTS mobile operator service.

"Telcell payment system is the first in the local market to have overcome the barrier of 1,000 points of payment, confirming its leading position in the market of e-commerce,’ he said.

"We are present in all regions of Armenia, including rural communities," he said.

In  2011-2013, HSBC Bank Armenia,  Anelik Bank,  Prometey Bank , ProCredit Bank,  Artsakh Bank ,  VTB Bank (Armenia ),  Ardshiinvestbank  and some other companies joined TelCell system.

Telcell’s processing center is connected to more than 1,000 payment points throughout Armenia, accepting payments for the services of national mobile operators, Internet providers, public utilities companies and more. -0-
