YEREVAN, July 2. /ARKA/. Armenian police have uncovered a group suspected of large-scale computer theft, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.

According to the ministry, the group operated in the Bagrevand district, where the criminal organization was presumably established. Investigators established the identities of the members, their number, and their work schedule, and also discovered that the area was guarded to restrict access by unauthorized persons.

After the materials were transferred to the Investigative Committee, criminal proceedings were initiated. On June 15, officers from the Investigative Committee and the criminal police conducted a surprise search.

During the search, digital media, handwritten notes, foreign ID cards, mobile phones, and foreign phone numbers were seized.

One of the suspected members of the group reported two firearms stored on the second floor of one of the buildings. Police discovered and seized two pistols and ammunition. The individual has been detained.

The Criminal Police Cybercrime Unit is working with law enforcement agencies in the EU and the US to obtain information about the suspected criminal activity, its mechanisms, and the individuals involved.
