Armenian Education and Science Ministry launches new online learning portal
YEREVAN, November 16. /ARKA/. The Armenian Ministry of Education and Science has launched today an English-language news and learning portal at amhe.am and another website at studyinarmenia.org.
"The purpose of this information portal and the website is to bring foreign students as well as Diaspora young Armenians to Armenia because it is no secret that our country has become the most attractive country in the CIS for foreign students," Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan said at the presentation ceremony.
He said the portal and the website have all the prerequisites to develop into the best educational portal in the country. He said Armenian and English language versions will be developed later.
The portal has a section for each Armenian university telling about the scope of their activities. There is also a section on educational programs, available scholarships and information about the Bologna process. Website visitors can also submit a preliminary electronic admission application.
"I believe that the creation of this website is a very modern introductory tool, enabling a more effective dissemination of information,‘ said the minister.
"We do not deny the existence of different problems in education, including technical, but eventually we will be able to overcome them through educational reforms", said Ashotyan.
According to the Ministry of Education and Science, about 2000 foreign students major at different local universities. The bulk are from Iran, India, Russia and Syria. Armenia has 16 state-run and 42 private universities as well as the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) State University, American University of Armenia, the French University in Armenia and the European Regional Educational Academy. -0-
