YEREVAN, June 26. /ARKA/. Website www.sevanlake.am has been launched as part of the cultural program of France’s embassy in Armenia and KASA Swiss Humanitarian Foundation for highlighting problems of Armenia’s Lake Sevan.

French Embassy Advisor Jean Michel Kasbarian said that Sevan is interesting not only for being a source of fresh water or in terms of bio diversity, but the lake is also important for agriculture and it is a popular tourist destination.

He said the aim of the website is to ensure worldwide fame to Sevan and to provide available professional information about the lake, enhancing public awareness of the situation here.
Kasbarian also said that the website will serve as a platform for discussing problems with participation of experts.

Tatevik Baghdasaryan, a representative of KASA Swiss Humanitarian Foundation, presenting the structure of the website, singled out Sightseeing section that describes the lake’s pristine beauty, not popular tourist destinations.

There is also a test for expanding knowledge about Sevan and the section of interesting facts about this and other lakes.

“To make this website more interesting for kids we offer a table game that can be played by the whole family,” Baghdasaryna said. “The game not only provides information about Sevan, but also implants the sense of responsibility for the lake in children.”

The official presentation of the website will take place on the lakeside. Armenian officials and the French ambassador to Armenia will attend the presentation.

Sevan is one of the largest mountainous lakes in Europe and Asia. It sits in the middle of Armenian Highland at an altitude of 1914 meters.

Sevan is the main source of drinking water in the region. -0----
