Armenia not yet ready for 5G network - Yesayan
YEREVAN, June 23. /ARKA/. Armenia is not yet ready to use 5G network, Hayk Yesayan, CEO of Team Telecom Armenia, told ARKA news agency.
"The 5G network does not differ from 4G by its modulation. That is, at low frequencies, which provide a large coverage and allow using fewer base stations, the 5G network is no better from the point of view of investment and is more expensive today. The market today is not ready to pay more," he said.
Yesayan also explained that it will take at least two years to provide 5G coverage throughout Yerevan only.
He said also that all funds raised from the company's IPO will be used to improve the quality of fiber-optic communication, as well as the coverage of 4G and 5G networks.
Telecom Armenia OJSC (trading as Team Telecom Armenia) plans to place 40mln shares with the total cost of AMD 8bln 240mln. The placement will be carried out from June 7 to October 31 this year. ($1 - 386.14 drams). -0-
