YEREVAN, April 12. /ARKA/. Seven Armenian teams will compete Friday on the final round of Imagine Cup 2013 national qualifying contest in Yerevan.

The contest is coordinated by Microsoft Armenia and Microsoft Innovation Center.

The entry projects include :  a mobile system which enables the users to command the household appliances from anywhere via their smartphones (Revotech team); application for Windows 8 which turns colors into music, thus an image can obtain some music form (miXoft team).

Among some other projects are Kinect technology solutions (Lionsharp Solutions team), a new chat system (Megamind), etc.

The winning team will represent Armenia at the world Imagine Cup competition 2013 to be held in July in Russian St. Petersburg.

 “This year we changed selection criteria a little bit. Based on our previous experience, we realized the most important thing is a strong team, the idea can be perfected, but the team must be strong from the beginning,” Eva Khusyan, the coordinator of Microsoft Innovation Center,  Center, told ARKA and added the Armenian teams have all the potential to win a ticket to the Final.

The competition is aimed at helping students to develop new programming/IT solutions. All participants will have a chance to meet experts and get their consultations, as well as pass special skill trainings.

Besides World Citizenship, this year Imagine cup had  two other  categories:  Games  and Innovation.

Teams must consist of up to 4 members, at least 3 of which are students /bachelor’s, master’s, PHD/ (team members can be students of different educational institutions). All team members must be 16 years of age or older and at least one of the team members must have a fluent knowledge of English.
The winners of last year's national selection round - Clean H2O team– were awarded Toshiba ultrabooks- by Microsoft Corporation.

The Imagine Cup is an annual worldwide student technology competition focused around Microsoft technology and encouraging young people to apply their imagination, their passion, and their creativity to technology innovations that can make a difference in the world. The competition has been running for 11 years now. Each year the World finals were being held in different countries. The Imagine Cup has grown to more than 1 mln registered students from over 183 countries last year. The financial support for the Armenian teams is demonstrated by EDMC/USAID program. —0-
