Armenia to discuss producing armenian keyboard with manufacturers

YEREVAN, April 18. /ARKA/. Information Technology Development Support Council, chaired by Armenia’s Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, discussed producing a computer keyboard with Armenian letters at its regular meeting on Tuesday, Armenian government’s press service told ARKA agency.
The Council members said a number of companies manufacturing computers and computer equipment support an initiative to produce Armenian keyboard.
As such keyboards will have Armenian and English keys, which will be used in parallel, the initiators will have to choose one of the keyboard layouts, either Armenian Typewriter or Armenian Phonetic, to continue further negotiations with the producers.
The Prime Minister instructed appropriate bodies to outline a common approach on the issue for reaching an agreement with the manufacturers.
The session participants also discussed providing universities with the most modern program software and proposed to develop educational internet-encyclopedia via local network.
Thus, the internet-encyclopedia, mentioned above, could be used for educational purposes, and moreover, a pilot school encyclopedia on “Geography” subject has been already designed.
The Ministry of Education and Science is instructed to discuss the issue and give a feedback.
The Council members also discussed existing IT issues and possible solutions as well as possibilities to present new mechanisms for IT infrastructure development and eliminate all the legislative omissions in this context.
Issues related to the procurement and tendering were also highlighted. In this reference the Council underlined an importance of launching a new website, which will contain all tenders, participant lists and results.
