Armenia’s IT potential to raise country’s defense – UITE

YEREVAN, June 12. /ARKA/. IT potential of Armenia can significantly raise the level of the country’s defence, executive director of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE) Karen Vardanyan told ARKA.
“The modernization of armament or its upgrading into new quality may be done by the local IT companies,” he said.
Some Armenian companies, according to him, are already processing such orders for other countries.
“The program of delivering the U.S. army’s property as well as that of Afghanistan was developed in Armenia, however, our state, for some unknown reasons, doesn’t fully use this potential,” Vardanyan clarified.
IT potential of Armenia may foster developing the military industry in the country pretty well, the executive director added.
“We should not also forget that today each state is challenged by creating cyber army. We have talked about it with the President of Armenia and presented all possible opportunities and challenges to him,” Vardanyan said and added that it is necessary to activate the cooperation between the IT sector and Armenia’s Ministry of Defense. —0-
