Pashinyan discusses potential MIT collaboration on "Academic City" project

Opportunities for collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on the "Academic City" project were discussed during a meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and MIT academic leader Professor Anantha Chandrakasan.
YEREVAN, September 23. /ARKA/. Opportunities for collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on the "Academic City" project were discussed during a meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and MIT academic leader Professor Anantha Chandrakasan.
According to the Armenian government's press service, the parties reviewed the project's details, implementation progress, and upcoming steps. Pashinyan emphasized the importance of potential cooperation with MIT and the exchange of experience.
Chandrakasan welcomed the project and expressed readiness to collaborate with Armenian partners, including through the sharing of experience and expertise.
The parties also exchanged views on measures aimed at developing higher education.
About the Academic City
The "Academic City" project envisions creating a modern educational and research environment in Armenia. Its launch is scheduled for 2030.
Plans include accommodating up to 16 higher education institutions—comprising up to eight consolidated public universities and up to eight private or international institutions.
The Academic City will feature educational and research infrastructure, dormitories and housing for students, faculty, and researchers, as well as sports, cultural, and other facilities. Project estimates indicate that approximately 44,000 people will work and reside within the Academic City and its surrounding areas.
