4,500 entities in Armenia using electronic procurement system
YEREVAN, March 24./ARKA/. Some 4,500 entities in Armenia use electronic procurement system, Hayk Hovhannisyan, head of a unit in the Armenian finance ministry's procurement promotion center, said Wednesday at a seminar focused on development of cyber security in Armenia.
«As many as 130 ordering customers and 4,500 participants use the e-procurement system now,» he said.
In his words, local suppliers and foreign organizations use the system every day.
Hovhannisyan said that introduction and a wide usage of the e-procurement system ensures active competition at Armenia’s electronic market.
He stressed that the system ensures confidentiality and personal data security to users and added that there were no cyber attacks over the past few years.
Hovhannisyan also said that the Armenian government, taking into account possible threats, initiated information security system modernization for e-procurement in 2016.
He said that the Armenian government, in cooperation with the finance ministry, is working out a program of consistent steps to be taken to enhance e-procurement system security.
The e-procurement system was introduced in Armenia in 2011 and started functioning in 2012, when the number if potential ordering customers rose and the range of the goods required by participants expanded. --0----
