Yerevan Mayor Proposes Limiting Mobile Phone Use in Schools "to Protect Children from Cyberbullying"
YEREVAN, September 9. /ARКА/. Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan has proposed limiting the use of mobile phones in schools.

In his opinion, this will allow children to study better and protect themselves from cyberbullying.

"School should be a place where our children learn and make friends. But when a mobile phone becomes an "attractive" source of knowledge at any time, then direct communication and even games fade into the background," Avinyan wrote on social networks.

He cited international experience, saying that in England, Spain, Norway, and France, a ban on mobile phones in schools led to improved academic performance and a decrease in bullying and cyberbullying, and children began to play more with each other and communicate during breaks.

“We also want to create a school environment in Yerevan where children will study without unnecessary obstacles, make real friends and feel that school is a place of knowledge and trust,” Avinyan said.
