“Viva Armenia” provided new radio frequencies for distribution of 5G technologies
YEREVAN, April 7. /ARKA/. Viva Armenia has been granted new radio frequencies for greater spread of 5G technologies. This is an important step towards the expansion of mobile broadband communication with the help of 5G technology, the Armenian Ministry of High Technologies Industry said.
According to the decisions made by the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia on April 2, 2025, Viva Armenia CJSC received permits for the use of 2300-2350 MHz and 2350-2400 MHz radio frequency bands for a period of 10 years to provide public mobile communication services in the territory of the Republic of Armenia.
According to the mentioned decisions, Viva Armenia CJSC undertakes to:
1) within 3 years to provide outdoor mobile broadband Internet coverage on at least 98% of interstate highways of the Republic of Armenia, of which at least 10% - with 5G mobile broadband technology,
2) within 3 years after commissioning of each new interstate highway to provide outdoor mobile broadband Internet coverage on at least 98% of the road, of which at least 10% - with 5G mobile broadband technology,
3) within 3 years to ensure coverage of outdoor mobile broadband Internet access on the basis of 5G-technology not less than in 20% of the administrative territory in Yerevan, Gyumri, Vanadzor and Kapan, in the territory of “Engineering Town”, atb “Zvartnots” and airports in Gyumri and Kapan, at all operating border customs points of the Republic of Armenia, as well as at each new border customs point - within one year after putting it into operation on its entire territory.
4) within 5 years to provide coverage of outdoor mobile broadband Internet access based on 5G technology to at least 40% of the administrative territory in each of the cities of Yerevan, Gyumri, Vanadzor and Kapan, in the territory of Academic Campus envisaged by the Government decision.
5) within 7 years to provide coverage of outdoor mobile broadband Internet access based on 5G technology to at least 60% of the administrative territory of each settlement of the Republic of Armenia.
Viva Armenia transferred 2.5 billion drams to the state budget of the Republic of Armenia. ($1 - 391.22 drams).-0-
