YEREVAN, August 26. / ARKA /. At a meeting today Armenia's Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) has allowed Ucom telecom company to use '044' area code for providing public mobile communications.

According to PSRC decision, Ucom may start providing public mobile communication services from the 1st of January 2016 until August 6, 2018.

Armenia has three mobile operators - ArmenTel (trading as Beeline), which offers numbers with area codes 091, 096, 099, 043; VivaCell-MTS, which offers numbers with area codes 077, 093, 094, 098 , 049 and Orange Armenia with codes 055, 095 and 041.

On August 20 Armenia’s telecoms regulator approved the takeover of domestic mobile operator Orange Armenia by local internet service provider (ISP) UCOM.

Ucom (Universal Communications), established in 2007, provides telecommunication services in Armenia. The company, under support from Ericsson, has created a broadband access network servicing Yerevan with Internet, IP television, and fixed telephony service. -0-
