YEREVAN, March 31. /ARKA/. Property tax for electric vehicles has been significantly reduced in Armenia under a new calculation procedure, announced Narek Sargsyan, press secretary of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"According to a government decision that came into effect on April 1, the procedure for calculating the engine power of electric vehicles has been changed. If the vehicle already has an electronic 'passport,' the information contained therein will be used when calculating the property tax," Sargsyan noted.

He added that if this information is not available, the calculation will be carried out according to the new procedure.

"If the engine power is up to and including 250 horsepower, this figure will be divided by 1.5. If the power exceeds 250 horsepower, the calculation will be made in two parts: the first 250 horsepower will be divided by 1.5, and the remaining part by 2.5," Sargsyan said.

He also noted that the results obtained are then summarized. Thus, for a 2025 model year vehicle, the property tax will be 276,000 drams instead of the previous 666,000 drams.

"The data for already registered electric vehicles will be updated automatically. Owners will be notified of this in their personal account on the roadpolice.am platform or via a corresponding notification," Sargsyan noted.
