The board of the Public Television and Radio Company of Armenia is planning to open a public online TV channel, Ara Shirinyan, the board chairman, said Thursday at the 2020 draft government budget hearings in the National Assembly.

YEREVAN, November 1. /ARKA/. The board of the Public Television and Radio Company of Armenia is planning to open a public online TV channel, Ara Shirinyan, the board chairman, said Thursday at the 2020 draft government budget hearings in the National Assembly.  

In his words, AMD 102 million is expected to be allocated from the government budget for this purpose.
"The new TV channel will not only cover events in the country, but will also transmit the programs aimed at strengthening the Armenian identity not only in Armenia and nearby countries but also all over the world.

Ara Shirinyan said that around AMD 7,396,131,000 is planned to be spent in 2020 on creation of political, economic and youth-targeted TV programs, with paying equal attention to developments in the capital city and provinces. "The preparation and broadcasting of the TV programs implies the spending of AMD 5,953,000,000, and this is 25,000,000 less than it was earmarked in the 2019 government budget," he said.
