YEREVAN, February 11. /ARKA/. The National Assembly of Armenia adopted amendments to the law "On the Regulation of Gaming Activities" and several related laws in the first reading.
According to Rafael Gevorgyan, Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee (SRC), the digital gaming sector in Armenia is planned to be regulated through a single operator.
According to him, an interdepartmental commission has been formed under the SRC, which is conducting a competition to select the operator. It is expected that the operator will be hired for a 15-year term and will ensure digital regulation of the system.
"A digital infrastructure will be created, integrated with all operators and organizers of gaming activities—both online platforms and physical gaming houses," Gevorgyan noted.
He stated that the implementation of the system will allow the state to receive centralized information on all transactions in the sector, including bets, winnings, and losses.
According to the deputy head of the State Revenue Committee, the agency currently lacks a complete data set, and the level of digitalization in the industry remains insufficient, which prompted the development of the initiative.
The bill's second reading is scheduled for a special procedure.
