NVIDIA Vice President Rev Lebaredyan on Strategies for Transforming Armenia into an AI Nation

YEREVAN, October 10. /ARKA/. Rev Lebaredyan, NVIDIA's Vice President and head of Omniverse & Simulation Technology, shared his insights on how to establish Armenia as an AI nation and advance its high-tech sector.

"Armenia requires supercomputers and a robust data center that can handle and process large volumes of data," Lebaredyan remarked during a panel discussion at DigiTec 2025 in Yerevan.

Additionally, he emphasized the necessity of developing infrastructure.

"Armenia possesses a vital resource—electricity—but it cannot be exported in significant amounts. Nevertheless, it can be converted into tokens for export," Lebaredyan explained.

He pointed out that within the framework of the 4th Industrial Revolution, Armenia is presented with vast opportunities: infrastructure enhancement, business and startup acceleration, and advancements in education and science.

"AI offers further prospects for GDP growth, which is particularly pertinent for Armenia given its small population," Lebaredyan stated.

He concluded that AI could partially address the shortage of human resources.

Previously, he mentioned that the establishment of a $500 million AI data center would position Armenia as a key player in the technology industry.

Details on the $500 million data center initiative

The Armenian government, along with NVIDIA, Firebird, and Team Group, is collaborating to develop the region's most advanced supercomputer and data center driven by artificial intelligence (AI).

The $500 million AI data center initiative in Armenia aims to serve as a hub for innovation, education, science, and entrepreneurship, fostering the growth of local and international startups, bridging the gap between science and technology, and transforming Armenia into a regional technology center—a genuine AI hub. This endeavor will significantly alter the technological landscape of the region.

The equipment will be acquired from NVIDIA, a prominent global producer of this technology, while the data center will be owned by the newly formed company Firebird. Dell is also involved in this initiative. The project, which is set to commence in 2026, will implement thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and establish infrastructure with a capacity exceeding 100 MW.-0-
