YEREVAN, January 14. /ARKA/. A new supercomputer center has been launched at Yerevan State University (YSU). The Armenian government allocated 3.4 billion drams for its construction back in 2024. Later, in 2025, an additional 1.17 billion drams was allocated for the purchase of a supercomputer equipped with 64 NVIDIA H100 computing accelerators.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Hakob Arshakyan, Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, and Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan visited the university yesterday to familiarize themselves with the supercomputer center's operations.
Yerevan State University Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan presented the work on the center's creation, the RA government press service reported.

It was noted that the center is designed to build Armenia's potential in artificial intelligence and high-performance computing (HPC), stimulate scientific research, implement innovative programs, and modernize educational processes.
The target users of the supercomputer will be research groups working in machine learning and artificial intelligence, as well as in related fields such as computational physics, materials science, computational chemistry, healthcare and biomedical research, climate modeling, and robotics.
It is noted that the supercomputer center's computing resources will be used both for solving applied scientific problems and for educational purposes, including training specialists in AI and digital technologies.
