YEREVAN, June 12. /ARKA/. At this stage, there is no final decision on the format of Armenia's involvement or participation in a large-scale project to create a supercomputer Data Processing Center (DPC) based on artificial intelligence (AI) solutions, said Armenian Minister of High Technology Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan at a regular government meeting on Thursday.

The day before, it became known that the Armenian government, NVIDIA, Firebird and Team Group will join forces to create the most powerful AI-based supercomputer data center in the region, in which about $500 million will be invested.

"That is, whether Armenia's participation will be expressed in the form of providing an appropriate (land) plot, electricity supplies on favorable terms, as well as the use of a certain part for our economy. Discussions around all this are ongoing," Hayrapetyan noted.

According to him, at the moment a number of large companies have declared their readiness to use Cloud services, which to a certain extent creates guarantees for the assertion of the feasibility of this project.

In turn, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that it is necessary to discuss a number of nuances. "For example, I would suggest that our partners discuss the implementation of this investment program in the territory of Akademgorodok, where, fortunately, there are enough opportunities and territories, and it is also obvious that this infrastructure will need qualified specialists. The implementation of this program can receive the appropriate synergy in the vicinity of Akademgorodok and the technology cluster," Pashinyan said.

He also emphasized that Armenia has the capacity to supply electricity in sufficient quantities, and the corresponding calculations were previously included in the basis of this project.

According to the report of the Armenian Ministry of High Technologies, the launch of a large-scale AI Data Processing Center is planned for 2026. Thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs will be deployed and an infrastructure with a capacity of over 100 MW will be created. The center's activities will stimulate the development of local and international startups, turning Armenia into a regional tech hub - a real place for the development of AI.
