YEREVAN, January 26. /ARKA/. Driver's licenses and vehicle registration certificates have been digitized in Armenia, announced RA Interior Minister Arpine Sargsyan. Therefore, according to her, those with a valid driver's license no longer need to carry a plastic document.
Presenting the Ministry of Internal Affairs' activity report for 2025 to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Sargsyan noted that digitalization encompasses the entire process of obtaining a driver's license, registering vehicles, and related procedures.
As part of the reforms, the state platform car.mia.gov.am was introduced, through which approximately 600 digital transactions have already been processed.
The minister explained that each user can log in to their personal account and view their digital driver's license. Vehicle registration certificates have also been digitized in a similar manner.
"While previously, an inspector could impose administrative penalties for the absence of a plastic driver's license card, now no administrative action is taken—only the presence of a valid driver's license is checked," Sargsyan noted.
She added that a physical driver's license will only be required when traveling outside Armenia, while a digital one is sufficient for all domestic procedures.
