Basics of artificial intelligence will be taught in Armenian schools

The STEP.ai science and technology educational program, which provides the study of the basics of artificial intelligence, will be implemented in general and secondary specialized educational institutions in Armenia.

YEREVAN, 10 October. /ARKA/. STEP.ai educational programme of science and technologies, which envisages studying the basics of artificial intelligence, will be introduced in general and secondary special educational institutions of Armenia. 

The corresponding memorandum was signed yesterday between the Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, the founder and president of the Armenian Virtual University AGBU Dr. Yervand Zoryan, the director of Synopsys Armenia Hovik Musaelyan, the executive director of the Union of Employers in the ICT Sector (UEICT) Eduard Musaelyan, press service of the Armenian Ministry of High Technologies Industry reports. 

As Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan stated, the organizations involved in the program will collaborate to ensure that artificial intelligence tools are integrated into the general education.

“I am confident that the new generation of AI will transform the entire economy and contribute to the effective implementation of the digital transformation policy of our country,” Hayrapetyan said. 

Andreasyan stated that Armenia is among a small number of countries in whose schools, as a result of cooperation with the private sector, AI courses are already being conducted.

"We will be able to apply and compare various approaches and pilot programs in different situations," she noted, adding that various international platforms are already interested in Armenia's experience. 

The event also included a presentation of projects by high school students who had completed the first courses of the STEP.ai program, and a ceremony to award them with certificates.

The STEP.ai program was launched in 2022 in a number of schools for high school students. The program was initiated, developed and implemented by the joint efforts of the Synopsys Foundation, AGBU Silicon Valley Chapter, UEICT Union, Synopsys Armenia Education Department and AGBU Armenian Virtual University. The AI ​​program consists of 3 courses, video lessons with multimedia content are equipped with modern distance learning solutions. -0-
