Armenian Parliament passes bill on cybersecurity during its initial reading

YEREVAN, October 2. /ARКА/. The National Assembly of Armenia has approved the bill "On Cybersecurity" along with several associated bills in its first reading during the session held on Thursday. This legislation aims to establish a new regulatory body for information systems within the nation.

As stated by Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan in parliament, the National Assembly is tasked with creating this new body, which will be composed of a five-member commission, also elected by the parliament.

"This addresses a crucial issue: the establishment of an independent, non-political entity that will unite highly skilled and competent specialists and experts. Cybersecurity is a vital aspect concerning threats to national security," Hayrapetyan emphasized.

He further mentioned that there are intentions to develop appropriate cybersecurity infrastructure in alignment with international standards across government agencies and the private sector, in addition to implementing a cybersecurity service system.-0-
