Armenian government supporting $500 million project to create an AI data center in Armenia
YEREVAN, July 4. /ARКА/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the government's support for the project to create a large AI data center in the country, the investment program of which is estimated at $500 million.
According to the government press service, this issue was discussed at a meeting of the Prime Minister with Firebird co-founder and CEO Razmik Hovakimyan, NVIDIA Vice President Rev Lebaredyan, and Team Telecom Armenia co-founder and chairman of the board of directors Alexander Yesayan.
Pashinyan emphasized that the project will give new impetus and have a significant impact on the development and progress of the technological sphere in Armenia.
Hovakimyan presented detailed information on upcoming programs and steps.
The project is expected to deploy thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and create infrastructure with a capacity of over 100 MW.
As Lebaredyan previously stated, with the launch of the $500 million AI data center, Armenia will become a significant player in the technology sector, the center will become a place for initial research, on the basis of which new developing companies will be created. Yesayan, in turn, noted that the center should be operational by the end of this year.
The AI data center project in Armenia will become a platform for innovation, education, science and entrepreneurship, stimulating the development of local and international startups, ensuring the connection of science and technology, turning Armenia into a regional tech hub - a real place for creating AI. This will radically change the technological map of the region.
The equipment will be purchased from NVIDIA - the world's top manufacturer of such equipment, the owner of the data center will be the newly created company Firebird.
